Episode 5 — Customise a Caravan

Episode 6 — Making Old Things New Again

As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. “Making Old Things New Again” is about recycling the old and turning it into something completely new, different and practical.

First the contestants visit “The Bower”, a charity that collects people’s junk and sells it on rather than letting it end up in landfill. Our contestants must think laterally. For example, putting together an old bike and a glass top and turning into a functional dining room table, or slicing a bathtub in half and converting it into a sofa. Innovation and creative flair are the buzzwords for this challenge.

Next they must design a space that features their piece …. But again they can’t use anything new. This is the first challenge that the contestants have done soley on their own, so their design skills will be really challenged as they can only rely on their own strengths and weaknesses. The weakest, least imaginative designer will be eliminated out of the competition.

this is my favourite design so far as i love seeing beautiful pieces recycled. i particularly love the uses of timber here with quirky shelving and the storage within the bed. the timber was left primarily 'as is'and it's warmth was contrasted nicely with the use of green.brilliant ideas sucessfully realized.
