The Secret Millionaire: Danny Wallis

Computer whiz Danny Wallis leaves behind his millionaire lifestyle in Melbourne and discovers a wealth of community spirit when he goes undercover in a town fighting for its survival.

Danny Wallis is the founder of DWS Advanced Business Solutions, a publicly listed IT company employing more than 600 people across Australia. It has an annual turnover or more than $100 million while Danny’s personal fortune is estimated to be $150 million.

He is a successful businessman who is used to setting his own agenda and living by his own rules. With little to tie him down, he is able to indulge his passion for sport, travel, fast cars and a busy social life. His daily life is worlds apart from the undercover experience he takes on in Wollongong, NSW.

At the Police Community Youth Club, Danny meets Jim Clabour who spends his time volunteering and helping local youth learn how to box. Jim also runs the local amputee association, having lost his own leg from the knee down in an industrial accident.

Danny meets the O’Briens, a young family struggling with two sons who suffer from an extremely rare skin condition that makes every day an emotional and financial struggle.

He also visits and works at Darcy House, a centre giving disadvantaged people access to food, shelter and social support.

For Danny this is a very different life and he is moved and confronted by what he sees and the people he meets. His aim in taking part in The Secret Millionaire was to leave a legacy so that his money could make a difference. His challenge is to decide how best to achieve it.

Yep - total gem!! Hope you live long and prosper and find a fantastic, big-hearted, genuine person like yourself to grow old with!! ps I know it's shallow in the context of the show but I loved your house - totally cool. Gotta love a Wurlitzer in the loungeroom.
I wanted to congratulate Danny Wallace, what an extraordinary man. I saw the episode from start to end and was so deeply touched by Danny's generosity, sincerity and kindness. To see what he did for the two boys and the emotion on his face, brought me to sobs. Good on you Danny, you are a true representation that "good still exists in the world". And the best part is you are still very grounded and humble more to the point. That is the greatest attribute an individual can have. Good luck in meeting that special someone, you deserve it.
Great show last night. I look forward to every show but its on to late. Can it be put forward to 7.30 please.
I wonder how long can good people like danny and namoi can help people out the show brings happiness to people just watching not counting the people that the show has bought great joy to so wouldnt it be great if other rich people joined in to help fight the stress in one's life or company's to help people like the secret millionare.
Danny, your generosity and your tiers in your eyes??? really touched me. I am business woman from European background and yes, even I do not have that much wealth to help financially others, I am a person who people like and saying that they are privileged to know me due to my generosity and hard work. I hope this will be passed on to you and I will be delightful to meet with you. Oh Yes, I assuring you that the money are not attraction to me - but to know someone with heart like you?
Good on you Danny. I agree with all the above, and with Michelle. There is something appealing about this man...why is he single? he has magnetism to him...Shame the show made Wollongong to be a dump, when in fact 90% of the show was Port Kembla, a place where locals done even go. Great job and a great show..ps, I too, would like to meet Danny in person.
Just wanted to say what a lovely man Danny is, and seems to be a compassionate person. He was really affected by those little boys as I and was touched at what Danny did for that family. Danny is a good Aussie bloke and I wish him luck in love, he seems to have a great life for which he has worked hard for. Be proud Danny you are a champion......from Sandra
Oh Danny l am so happy for you, great job on the television. It has been years since we spend some great times together in Rotaract. Keep up the good work and keep enjoying life. Allison Lazenby
I hope Danny gets to read this. I saw the show last night for the first time from staart to finish. Once before saw few mins of it before i went to bed. But last night it touched my heart as like it would have done to many others. I could see the emotion on your face and a tear fell from my right eye when you were talking bout the 2 boys and their illness.I guess im an emotional person when it comes to life and giving help. I am rodney a 45 yo single man with a brain dissorder and other health problems. I do work now but mostly enjoyed the time i was a volunteer at local blue light for 7 yrs before it closed. For the first time in my life i felt needed not just taken for granted. Its a good feeling ) I work hard to pay my bills, but never seam to get anywhere in life. I fear that i will never get the chance to experience life as you did helping others because of being so consumed in work If i could have 3 wishes right now, they would be 3) be debt free 2) be healthy 1) shake your hand
Does anyone know the music in this episode with just the guitar playing towards the end of the episode
